One for sorrow two for joy;
A mother’s mirth a father’s sadness,
Three for three girls four for a boy.
Jumble sale offspring,
Born in a car boot into a life of boxes.

All the unloved children put out of their misery,
All the lovers and everyone who’s ever loved too much,
Put out of their misery sat in a grave their inner church.
A second hand heart the world as turned away
And love won’t return even if it turns.
My heart will be left among the clutter,
If only those stalls could contain the past.

Righteously divided under April skies,
Tired of fighting bruising easily like a peach.
In between adjacent hells, wishing to stay in bed rotting away
I’ll be a juniper tree dying, as shade grows up around me
Instead of being dragged to church or another boot sale.
Hanging my head low singing in a stupid out of tune choir;
Or hanging my head low among the scrum of rummaging vultures,
Hanging my head low pulled one way and another,
I will hang my head low and not know which way to go.

Children without raincoats jumping into puddles
Running around among the crowd dropping crumbs;
Bits of burgers, hot dogs and jacket potato
Gobbled up by scraggy old dogs.
A car park bursting into life to waste our time
My heart will be left among the clutter,
If only those stalls could contain the past.
One for sorrow two for joy;
A mother’s mirth a father’s sadness,
Three for three girls four for a boy.
Jumble sale offspring,
Born in a car boot into a life of boxes.
A scrap yard soul crying metallic tears,
Wearing junk clinging onto it and discarding it.
Books are the veins that work in reverse and suck in blood,
Ornaments are synthetic hearts ripped out and made into decoration.
Stricken toys are pretty in pretend,
All bodies extend and pretend what they are not.

The 6th installment of the poem a day April challenge.
I must thank ~ElectroBaby for suggesting to me 5 words
to use in a poem, after I suggested 5 to her, she suggested
me to put Peach, Metal, Adjacent, Synthetic and Juniper
into a poem was going to put them into my last poem
but forgot so here they are worked into this one
hope that it doesn't matter that I changed metal to metallic?
This poem was inspired by reading a poem about
a garage sale written by ~Nomessman
Garage Sale is a delightful and imagintive read
[link]
It made me think of my childhood and how I used to hate
Sunday mornings and would lay in bed pretending to be asleep praying that i'll be spared being dragged to a stuffy old church to sing in a stupid tuneless choir which my mum would want me to go too cos she grew up going to church or facing and being dragged to a car boot sale by my dad in the wet and cold both of which I hated
and made me loathe Sunday's forever :(

"Hanging my head low singing in a stupid out of tune choir
Or hanging my head low among the scrum of rummaging vultures" Scrum is a rugby terminollogy/play
Rugby is the national sport and religion of Wales
This describes what a scrum is... [link]
Jumble Sales and Car Boot Sales in Britain have a reputation for being somewhat like a rugby scrum
as people jostle for bargains.

"One for sorrow two for joy
A mother’s mirth a father’s sadness
Three for three girls four for a boy...."

This part is of course inspired by the one for sorrow
two for joy rhyme [link]

"One for sorrow,
two for joy,
three for a girl,
for for a boy,
five for silver,
six for gold,
seven for a secret,
never to be told,
eight for a wish,
nine for a kiss,
ten for a time
of joyous bliss."

And lastly this great song by Bob Dylan inspired the inner church parts, Bob Dylan's Abandoned Love lyrics

"I can hear the turning of the key
I've been deceived by the clown inside of me.
I thought that he was righteous but he's vain
Oh, something's a-telling me I wear the ball and chain.

My patron saint is a-fighting with a ghost
He's always off somewhere when I need him most.
The Spanish moon is rising on the hill
But my heart is a-tellin' me I love ya still.

I come back to the town from the flaming moon
I see you in the streets, I begin to swoon.
I love to see you dress before the mirror
Won't you let me in your room one time 'fore I finally disappear?

Everybody's wearing a disguise
To hide what they've got left behind their eyes.
But me, I can't cover what I am
Wherever the children go I'll follow them.

I march in the parade of liberty
But as long as I love you I'm not free.
How long must I suffer such abuse
Won't you let me see you smile one time before I turn you loose?

I've given up the game, I've got to leave,
The pot of gold is only make-believe.
The treasure can't be found by men who search
Whose gods are dead and whose queens are in the church.

We sat in an empty theater and we kissed,
I asked ya please to cross me off-a your list.
My head tells me it's time to make a change
But my heart is telling me I love ya but you're strange.

One more time at midnight, near the wall
Take off your heavy make-up and your shawl.
Won't you descend from the throne, from where you sit?
Let me feel your love one more time before I abandon it."

"It's like I've come undone...I've only just become inflatable for you. You're so pretty in white, pretty when you're faithful, so pretty in white, pretty when you're faithful, so pretty in white, pretty when you're faithful, pretty when you're faithful.
